Child protection

Plan's child protection measures

Plan puts children at the heart of what we do. We work together with children, their families, communities and governments to help build a world where all children realize their full potential in societies that respect people's rights and dignity.

Founded over 70 years ago, Plan is one of the oldest and largest children's organizations in the world. We work in 48 developing countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas to promote child rights and lift millions of children out of poverty. At Plan, we are committed to upholding the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), which says that children have the right to protection from abuse, neglect and exploitation. If you want more information on the CRC please go to plancanada.ca/youth.

Plan works with children and we have a responsibility to all the children we work with anywhere in the world. It is important that abuse of children does not happen.

It is for these reasons that Plan Canada has put child protection measures in place. These measures help us to 'Say No to Child Abuse' and means that Plan Canada is:

  • Committed to actively preventing child abuse
  • Taking positive action to prevent child abusers from becoming involved with Plan in any way. We will and do take really strong action against anyone who is associated with us who abuses a child.

Plan Canada employees, volunteers, interns and contractors

We have a number of things in place to ensure that anyone working or volunteering with Plan do not put children at risk, either from their action or lack of action. For more information on Plan Canada's child protection policies, contact our Child Protection Officer at 1-800-387-1418 ext 201
