Returning as a sponsor for the second year, Visa Canada is pleased to support Plan Canada's Because I am a Girl initiative with the distribution of financial educational tools and resources aimed at increasing financial literacy amongst girls across Canada through their learning module, Choices and Decisions
In 2010 Birks hosted A Night for Girls to Shine event in support of the Because I am a Girl initiative. On October 11, 2012 they will host a second fundraiser in celebration of the International Day of the Girl and will be supporting another project in Burkina Faso aimed at improving access to formal and non-formal education, with a specific focus on girls.
Birks is also donating a portion of sales of Jenn Heil's Dream Pendant and Butterfly Pendant, items she designed in collaboration with the jeweler especially for the Because I am a Girl initiative. The pendants are sold through Plan Canada's Gifts of Hope and in BIRKS stores across Canada.
Sears Canada works in partnership with Plan Canada by donating proceeds from the net sales from their trendy girls brand called “Girl Confidential” in support of Because I am a Girl. The clothing line is designed for girls’ ages 6-12 and is on sale in Sears stores across Canada. Watch the video.
Dove Self Esteem Fund
The Dove Self-Esteem Fund works in collaboration with Plan Canada's Because I am a Girl initiative in an ongoing effort to positively impact the lives of girls. With the help from developmental experts and research conducted by The Dove Self-Esteem Fund, together with Plan, they have developed and distributed self-esteem building including Mentors Matter and Me, Myself and I activities.
Danier is a longstanding partner of Plan Canada and has been sponsoring children all around the world through an outstanding employee engagement program.
In 2011, together, through the smartgirls challenge, Jenn Heil, Because I Am a Girl and glacéau smartwater reached out to Canadians to show how they’ve made a difference in the lives of girls and women. Three winners were selected to join Jenn Heil on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Rwanda in August 2011 to help celebrate the building of a new school for girls.
In March 2012, the smartgirls challenge was launched for a second year, asking girls to show them how an influential woman in their life has inspired them to be a smartgirl. Winners selected will be taken on an adventure of a lifetime to Tanzania in July 2012 with Because I am a Girl ambassador Rosey Edeh to celebrate a new community maternal health clinic for moms and their babies.
UNIGLOBE Travel International
UNIGLOBE Travel International has reached out to their network of independently-owned and operated franchises and global partners in 50 countries to get behind the Because I am a Girl campaign to help raise awareness of programs that help strengthen economies and create opportunities for young women to succeed.
Marcelle supported the Because I am a Girl initiative through the power of their products and distribution. Three of their best selling products were identified as Because I am a Girl products and sold in 1,700 drug stores across Canada in the spring of 2011
Today, many condominium buyers are female or are the primary decision maker in the purchase of a new home. In celebration of the importance of the role that women play in the new home industry, the Pemberton Group- a Toronto Condominium builder is supporting the Because I am a Girl campaign. Through the sales of individual condominiums at 5 different locations across the GTA, the Pemberton Group have committed to supporting the campaign over the next 5 years.
