Ideas for Girls
Easy FUNdraising ideas!
Bring your family, girl friends and boy friends together and inspire them to come on board and change the world for – and through – girls.
Explore some of these great ideas. They're easy – and most important they're FUN! And they can make a HUGE difference to the world by leading girls out of poverty.
Wash teachers' cars on a lunch break, or set up in a community car park. Charge a fee for each car – maybe $10. Split into two teams and see who can wash the most cars.
Make sure you pre-promote the event and let everyone know it's in aid of Because I am a Girl. This is a cause that people like to rally around!
To attract even more attention, purchase Because I am a Girl t-shirts
and wear them on the day. It will make for a great photo opp, so be sure to have your camera ready and submit the photos you take to this site via email. Tip off your local community paper - you never know, they might come out and cover your event!
You'll all have fun and you'll be helping to change the world for – and through – girls across the world.

Host a movie screening night at your house with popcorn and pyjamas. Watch the Because I am a Girl Documentary and other videos from our Because I am a Girl YouTube playlist.
Whether you host this at home or in the workplace, everyone pays a small fee for the fun of choosing new threads to take home, and the funds raised go to Because I am a Girl.
New threads for you - A new beginning for a girl!
Invite your friends and family to bring unwanted gently used clothing to your home for an afternoon of swapping clothes. Everyone picks a number out of a hat to see who chooses first and then you can rotate around, selecting one item at a time.
Or arrange a lunchtime clothing swap in the workplace. Invite your colleagues to bring one item for the swap. If you're up for a little extra effort, you could bake cookies or make refreshments and sell them during the lunchtime clothing swap, with proceeds going to the cause.
There are lots of projects to choose from. Check out Plan Overseas

You can showcase whatever talents you have. Nova Scotia girl fundraising champions, Avery and Laura
, put together a concert and an art show in support of the movement. Avery wrote and sang a song entitled "One girl at a time," and sold cd's at the evening event in a local café. Her younger sister Laura created art with her friends and arranged a silent auction in the café. Together the girls raised a total of almost $4,000 over a 3-month period.
