Changing the world for – and through – girls
Because I am a Girl addresses an issue whose time has come. Every day, increasing numbers of men and boys are showing their support for the movement.
Although girls in developing countries are often the poorest of the poor, at the same time it's proven that investing in girls is key to eliminating poverty. And it starts with people here in Canada who care about the world. People like these inspiring men and boys, who are raising funds and using their voices to support women and girls in developing countries.
Elementary school principal, Kevin Wood, and his daughter, Maya, decided to celebrate their birthdays in May by giving instead of receiving. Their fundraiser concert, "Three Bands in a Barn" raised $10,000 for Plan`s Rwanda school project.
This inspiring grandfather climbed Kilimanjaro and is hosting his third annual golf tournament to raise funds for projects in Africa.
This Grade 6 student formed a fundraising group at his school to help children around the world.
